Year 4 had a fantastic visit to the Farmwise event at Westpoint, in Exeter. They had an amazing day taking part in a wide variety of activities such as holding newly hatched chicks, meeting goats and cows, making butter from cream, finding out about bee-keeping, making pizza and cookies, creating butterfly friendly seed balls to plant in the garden and watching sheep being shorn.
They were able to meet many different people from farmers and vets, who explained to them how they looked after the animals to tree surgeons who demonstrated how they got the ropes high up in the trees and how they used chainsaws.
All the children learnt an incredible amount about farming and looking after the countryside. This trip was one of their 11 by 11 activities this year and they will bring home their eco-warrior badge to put onto their ties later this week.
