World Oceans Day

It was World Oceans Day on 8th June 2023 and Year 3 were excited to take part in an online interview with ex-Rydon pupil James Lofty.

James is studying a PhD in Microplastics at Cardiff University and was keen to take part to help us explore the issue of plastic pollution in our seas and rivers. The children came up with some excellent questions which James answered very knowledgeably. He also spoke a bit about his team’s role in researching the effects of microplastics on our environment. He was impressed with the knowledge that the children had already about climate change, plastic pollution and how we can help to make things better.

A big thank you to James for taking the time out of his busy schedule to talk to us.

5NC celebrated 'World Ocean Day' with Dr Juliette from Seadream. The children enjoyed finding out about the light and dark and the sounds of the ocean.

The afternoon continued with a live stream chat from the Mantra Trust. We all learnt about Mantras and Devil rays.
