World Book Day 2022

It has been three years since we last celebrated World Book Day in school and we certainly celebrated in style this year.

It was wonderful to watch the children embrace the day and see the pleasure they took in dressing up as a character from their favourite book. The school was buzzing with excitement as the children listened to stories read by their teachers, shared their favourite books with friends, wrote and illustrated ‘mini books’ and watched live web events such as stories with the orangutans at Paignton Zoo.
The children in Year 4 were proud to perform an outstanding version of the Roald Dahl’s Revolting Rhyme classic, ‘The Three Little Pigs’, to Reception. In addition members of staff had fun taking part in the Extreme Reading challenge for children to guess who was reading what, in the strangest of places, in the strangest ways.
The day ended with great excitement for the children in Reception and Key Stage 1 who came back to school dressed in their PJ’s for the Bedtime Story Hour. They spent the magical evening, snuggling up with their teddy, listening to the teachers read their favourite stories next to a roaring (virtual) fire. The perfect end to a busy day.
The money you have helped us to raise from the successful Usborne Book Fair, Ready Steady Ready Challenge and World Book Day PA donations has enabled us to buy a vast number of books for children to enjoy in their classrooms and school library. Thank you so much for all your support in ensuring this year’s World Book Day was one to remember.
